In 1989, a small estate agency office was purchased in the heart of Wath upon Dearne, a small mining village to the north of Rotherham. Nobody at that time envisaged the transformation that the area would have and become into one of the most exciting and interesting areas to live in.

At that time the business was called ‘Wath Property Centre’ but soon the reputation for excellent service grew and we were selling properties in all areas of the Dearne Valley. We quickly opened offices in Bolton on Dearne, Wombwell, Swinton and Parkgate to service the growing demand for a local estate agency under the umbrella name of Dearne Valley Property Centres.

The business changed its name to Dearne Valley Excelsior in 2004 when we moved into our new custom designed offices on the corner of the High Street. Our work ethic has never changed. We believe that people sell houses through us because we are a company that they can trust. They can speak directly with one of the owners who will ensure things are done there and then.

We changed the name fundamentally because we expanded our expertise into selling houses all over the world and since 2004, we have sold homes in Spain, Tenerife, Florida, Turkey, Bulgaria and Cyprus. Our motto was ‘dreams to reality’, making the pipe dream of anybody wanting to own a home abroad possible. We personally took our clients over to the country they wanted to buy in and guided them through the whole process of buying in a different country, from dealing with the developer, choosing how their houses would look to dealing with the legal process and even helping with buying furniture. We have made many friends over the years whilst helping them achieve their dreams.

Over the last 20 years, we have gained expertise in all fields of the property business.

The High Street Estate Agency is now outdated. When we started, we did not have mobile phones (gasp) or the internet (double gasp). Today people can access property details at any time of the day in any part of the world.

Closing the high street office has been a hard decision, but times have changed and to give our expertise to a wider audience we felt that the time had come to go 100% online. We can now cover any area, we can keep an eye on transactions instantly with the help of our website.
